Burna Boy Breaks The African Record For The Highest-Grossing Venue In The US

Burna Boy, a Nigerian megastar, continues to set new records for global commercial success in African music.

Burna Boy achieves another major accomplishment by becoming the African musician with the highest grossing venue in the United States. According to a report by Touring Data on X, Burna Boy’s 2024 concert at the TD Garden Arena in Boston grossed $1.593 million, breaking his previous African record established at Madison Square Garden in 2022.

Burna Boy packed out the 19,000-capacity TD Arena Garden in Boston as part of his ‘I Told Them’ Tour, which has already grossed $11,659,531 from 11 of 22 gigs.

Burna Boy’s record-breaking achievement demonstrates his standing as the world’s leading African artist. Burna Boy has experienced remarkable success as an African artist since breaking into the worldwide stage with his breakthrough single ‘YE’ in 2018.

The African Giant, as he is lovingly known, is the only Nigerian singer to have two Diamond hits in France, ‘On The Low’ and ‘Last Last’. His Grammy-nominated fourth album, African Giant, is also the first Nigerian album to be certified platinum in France.

Burna Boy has the most Grammy nominations for a Nigerian performer, with ten. He also made history at the 66th Grammy Awards in February 2024, becoming the first African artist to perform at the main ceremony.
